  • Your data can only be accessed by authenticated and authorized users (even we can’t access your data once it’s inside your virtual lockbox)

An easy way to visualize how our system works is to think about the safety deposit boxes at your local banking institution. That safety deposit box belongs to you only and anything that you place in that safety deposit only you can access. Our system works in very much the same way. Any data that you place inside your box only you can access. Any data that someone else places inside your box only you can access. Even we (the LOCKBOX team) can’t access data once it’s placed inside your box. Only you can.


More Technical Details

The LOCKBOX D3P uses a series of security technologies, operations and processes to apply protection to your data. At a high-level, the layers of the LOCKBOX D3P stack that are used to protect data include the Service Layer (L0), the Core Protection Layer (L1) and the Storage Abstraction Layer (L2).

  • The Service Layer (L0) determines the correct level of protection to apply to the data. The protection level can be controlled by the user or dictated by various industry standards and requirements.
  • The Core Protection Layer (L1) interprets and applies the required protection levels as expressed by the Service Layer. This layer also automatically applies data protection best practices, such as encrypting each file with unique cryptographically random key data, calculating tamper-detection data, and applying data availability and expiration.
  • The Storage Abstraction Layer (L2) intelligently stores and retrieves protected data in the user’s virtual lockbox using disparate storage platforms, such as databases, storage clouds and server file systems.
